Mapes Creek Blessing

Client: Paul E. Nelson, Cascadia Poetics LAB, Seattle, WA

Timeline: April 2024

Format: 8.5 x 11 poster, bookmark, web banner

Overview: For the Mapes Creek multicultural blessing at Be’er Sheva Park in Seattle, I designed a poster, bookmark, and web banner to promote a community gathering centered on ecological awareness, cultural exchange, and place-based reflection.

The visuals draw directly from photography of Mapes Creek, grounding the design in the physical site of the event and reinforcing its environmental focus.

Design Approach: The design uses layered photographic imagery, transparent overlays, and mixed typographic styles to suggest the interwoven themes of ecology, community, and cultural practice. The bookmark featured a poem by Paul E. Nelson, integrating a literary element that tied the event’s environmental focus to the poetic mission of Cascadia Poetics LAB.

Additional Collateral: bookmark, web banner
