Poetry Postcard Fest 2025 Wrap Up

Client: Paul E. Nelson, Cascadia Poetics LAB, Seattle, WA

Timeline: August 2025

Format: 8.5 x 11 poster

Overview: The Poetry Postcard Fest 2025 Wrap-Up poster was created to mark the conclusion of the annual Poetry Postcard Fest and invite participants to a communal online gathering. The event centered on reflection, shared experience, and informal exchange—bringing poets and artists together to celebrate a season of mailed poems through conversation and open mic.

Rather than promoting participation, the poster functions as a closing gesture: celebratory, reflective, and deliberately human in scale.

Design Approach: The design draws directly from the visual language of postcards and postal ephemera. Distressed paper textures, rubber-stamp motifs, cancellation marks, and layered type evoke accumulation, time, and touch—mirroring the many postcards exchanged throughout the Fest.

Bold typographic hierarchy anchors the composition, while collage elements introduce warmth and imperfection. The  overall effect balances clarity with informality, creating a design that feels reflective rather than promotional—appropriate for an event centered on looking back, sharing work, and closing the loop together.
