Baltimore Motorcycle Collective
Client: Ethan Pritchard, Baltimore Motorcycle Collective, Baltimore, MD
Timeline: July 2018
Format: 8.5 x 11 poster, and mural
Overview: Concept poster and mural design for a DIY motorcycle workshop and community space.
Design Approach: The poster uses Bauhaus-inspired typography, geometric forms, and a tilted photograph of a stripped-down motorcycle to convey motion, industrial energy, and hands-on making. The exposed, partially disassembled bike functions as a visual metaphor for the Collective itself—a place where motorcycles are actively worked on, repaired, and rebuilt by their owners. Rather than presenting a polished machine, the imagery emphasizes process, openness, and mechanical learning.
The mural concept reinterprets the poster for a large-scale, landscape format, simplifying the motorcycle into a bold silhouette that reads clearly at a distance. Geometric shapes and a Bauhaus-inspired palette of aqua, red-orange, and grey maintain continuity between print and environmental applications while reinforcing the Collective’s utilitarian, workshop-driven identity.
